Pear cream Green & white Tea has a particular history to it and goes back to 2006. We featured at that time several Green Flavoured teas and noticed that customers purchased them once, but seldom twice. In an effort to boost flavoured green tea sales we needed something better. An analysis of the green flavoured teas we sold at that time were based on the Japanese green Sencha tea. We knew Japanese Sencha’s were fussy about steeping time and temperature so set out to find alternatives. Knowing that Some Chinese teas are more forgiving for steeping times and temps we experiment and found them better, but not quite there. Further experimentation found the addition of White tea to the blend would help the steeping time and temperature hold up better for those ‘mistakes’ we all make when steeping a cup of tea like water too hot, steeping time to long, too much tea etc.
Success! Our flavoured Green (& White)tea sales improved and we had satisfied customers. At that time suppliers did not offer much in the way of flavoured green teas except those blended with the Japanese Sencha. We have noticed in the last approximately 6 years that more suppliers are moving away from or adding other Green teas to their blends.
We have added a line of these Green & White Teas to our selection such as: Green & White Unflavoured, Pear Cream, mango, Lemon, Vanilla, Grapefruit, Earl grey, Chai, Caramel, Heavenly blend, Ginseng Supreme and recently Ginger Lemon.
For steeping we suggest a temperature of 180F and a steeping time of about one to one & one-half minutes for the most pleasant taste (for those of us who like ‘mellow’). You may steep longer if you wish, up to 2 minutes if you desire. The tea will supply at least 3 good infusions or re-steeping’s.
