A Keemun with an extraordinarily pleasant, chocolate-like fragrance with similarities to the very expensive top grades of Keemun teas. Not just your ordinary monkey! Keemun is produced exclusively in the Qimen County of the Huangshan City, in Anhui province.

Peter's Pick

I was introduced to this delightful Keemun during my first visit to China when choosing the right supplier for our Chinese teas. During my test tasting of various Keemun teas (a lineup of 20 plus Keemun variations) this one stood out significantly. The biscuity, chocolate overtones were immediately apparent in my first spoonful from the tasting cup. It was quickly added to my list of buys. Since then this tea has been among our customers favourites. This is a more pricey tea than most Keemuns but definitely worth the investment if you treasure truly fine black teas. I have found out through experience that you ONLY drink this tea when you have time to both make and enjoy it..

It steeps well at 3 minutes at just below the boil and I recommend it is NOT made too strong. Keemun can become an undesirable cup if you over steep or add too much tea. My experience to date for all teas is to make the cup a bit on the weaker side as it brings out more of the the subtle nuances of the tea.

Come on into our store and talk to us about why this may be the Keemun tea for you. We will give you a sample to see if Golden Black Tea should be in your tea cupboard.

We are customer friendly and we love to talk and drink TEA!

Black tea is a variety of tea from the Camellia sinensis plant that is a species of an evergreen shrub or small tree from the family Theaaceae whose leaves and leaf buds are used to produce 'TEA'

Black Tea is fully oxidized in comparison to others like Green, Oolong or White which are much less oxidized. Black Tea is the most popular of all the teas and the most widely consumed in the world.

Nutritional

Black tea contains:

  • alkaloids, including caffeine, theophylline, and theobromine, amino acids, carbohydrates, proteins, chlorophyll, fluoride, aluminum, minerals and trace elements, volatile organic compounds, which contribute to its odor and taste

The antioxidant effect of black tea is due to its polyphenol content. Polyphenols are chemical compounds that protect plants from ultraviolet radiation and harmful, disease-causing pathogens. Flavonoids are one type of polyphenol. They occur in grapes, red wine, and other foods.
